Officer Crashes Police Cruiser While Driving Drunk

(PRINCE GEORGE, Md.) -- A 38-year-old police officer crashed his marked police cruiser while driving drunk near the intersection of Route 1 and Tanglewood Drive in Bladensburg Saturday morning, ABC affiliate WJLA reports.

Daniel Gonzalez, a six year veteran of the Prince George County police force, had a blood alcohol level of .13 when the accident occurred, according to a police spokesperson. A level higher than .08 is considered legally drunk.

Gonzalez is on paid administrative leave while the police department conducts an internal investigation. He could lose his job or face drunk driving charges. Findings will be handed over to the state's attorney's office.
