Suspect Critical after Police-Involved Shooting
(WASHINGTON) -- An investigation is underway into a police-involved shooting in Southeast Washington, D.C., on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. on the 800 block of Southern Ave., and involved Prince George's County Police officers. Police were called to the area on a report that a man was was walking around firing a gun into the air, ABC affiliate WJLA reports.
Responding officers reportedly located the suspect and ordered him to put the gun down. Police officials said the suspect then fired shots at the officers, prompting the officers to return fire, hitting the suspect, according to WJLA.
Prince George's County Police said via Twitter that the suspect was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. The department also tweeted that a gun was recovered at the scene and that no police officers were injured.
