Occupy DC Protesters Stay in Campsites Past Deadline
(WASHINGTON) -- Occupy D.C. protesters refuse to leave their campsites at McPherson Square and Freedom Plaza after given a Monday deadline to vacate.
On Friday, the National Park Police warned protesters that they had to leave both sites by Monday at noon citing health and safety concerns.
The Washington Post reports that some protesters packed up their tents and placed them in storage on Monday. Still, on Tuesday morning many protesters were still camped with no plans to move.
The police said they have not evicted anyone yet. Also, members of the group have left voluntarily.
