Teen Killed, Three Others Injured in Columbia Crash

(COLUMBIA, Md.) -- A 17-year-old boy is dead and three other people injured following a vehicular crash in Columbia early Thursday morning.

The crash reportedly happened shortly after 3 a.m. on Columbia Road near Tarkington Place. Police said a car was headed south along the roadway when its driver -- Shaquan Jamal Curtis -- apparently lost control of the vehicle, with it then leaving the road and crashing into a tree. Curtis died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Injured were passengers Obafami Oyeniyi Ilupeju, 21, Tres Quante Jones, 20, and Dontrell Milner, 20.

The crash continues to be investigated, with police saying excessive speed may have been a factor.
