'Trayvon Martin Day' at D.C. School
(WASHINGTON) -- One elementary school in D.C. has declared Friday “Trayvon Martin Day,” according to ABC affiliate WJLA-TV.
Faculty at Malcolm X Elementary School want to use Martin's story to teach the students about issues of race in the country, according to the report.
Martin was shot and killed in Florida by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman in February. Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder, and the incident has brought social injustice issues and race relations in America into the spotlight.
