Ahmadinejad Detained for Questioning by Revolutionary Guard?

ABC/ Donna Svennevik(TEHRAN, Iran) -- There are reports that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has butted heads with the country's theocratic leaders, was arrested and detained for seven hours last Monday.

Quoting a source from the Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence unit, says that Ahmadinejad was led to believe that he was meeting with Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei when he was instead brought to a secret location belonging to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Following an altercation in which he was separated from his security team, says the president was questioned for hours about matters detrimental to the Islamic regime.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that Ahmadinejad’s associates were questioned throughout Tehran about alleged documents that criticized the regime.

Following his seven-hour interrogation, Ahmadinejad was told to back down from his claims against the government and given an ultimatum before he was reunited with his security team.

Meanwhile, a regime-run news outlet alleged that the president was threatening to release recordings proving that voters in the hotly-contested 2009 Iranian elections were defrauded.

The election led to subsequent widespread demonstrations throughout Iran, which the government only tolerated for a brief time before it sent soldiers and militias to violently crack down on protesters. There were thousands of arrests made and many people were tortured and executed for treason.
