At Least 26 Killed in Cairo Train Crash

Paper Boat Creative/Photodisc/Getty Images(CAIRO) -- A train crashed into a minivan and a truck early Monday about 25 miles south of Cairo, killing at least 26 people.

Egypt's Al Ahram newspaper reports that the minivan was carrying guests on their way home from a wedding. The vehicles reportedly ignored warning lights and crossed the tracks as the train came bearing down.

After the train struck the vehicles, it apparently continued for over half a mile before coming to a stop.

About 30 people were reportedly injured in the accident.

Last year, 50 school children were killed in Egypt when their bus was struck by a train. In January, a train derailed and killed 19 passengers.
