(WASHINGTON) -- American officials charged a Chinese citizen in a plot to steal data from U.S. defense contractors.
Su Bin, owner of a Chinese aviation technology company, is accused of hacking into computer networks of American contractors and retrieving information linked to military aircrafts and weapons, according to the Department of Justice.
The businessman, who has an office in Canada, was arrested in British Columbia on June 28. He allegedly conspired with two others in China to access the computer networks of American companies and steal data from Boeing.
Boeing is cooperating with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement in addressing the incident.
"We remain deeply concerned about cyber-enabled theft of sensitive information and we have repeatedly made it clear that the United States will continue using all the tools our government possesses to strengthen cyber security and confront cybercrime," DOJ officials told ABC News.
The U.S. is attemting to extradite Bin.
