Deadly 7.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Central Philippines

Chester Baldicanto/AFP/Getty Images(CEBU, Philippines) -- At least 67 people are dead after a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck central Philippines Tuesday morning.

According to the country's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, 164 others have been injured.

The quake's epicenter was near the island of Cebu, the second largest city in the Philippines and a popular hub for tourists.  Nine people were reported dead there.

The hardest hit on lives, however, was in the island province of Bohol, where 57 people were killed.

Despite the strong tremor, and ensuing aftershocks, no tsunami warning was issued.
