(TOKYO) -- A 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit Japan early Friday morning.
The earthquake poses no risk of tsunami, the Japan Meteorological Agency reports.
The quake, about 20 km beneath the surface, hit near Fukushima, shaking the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
There are no reports of damage to the plant.
While the Japan Meteorological Agency measured the earthquake at 5.8, the United States Geological Service measured the quake at 5.3.
Fukushima power plants are still recovering from the extensive damage from Japan's earthquake and subsequent tsunami in March 2011.
