Four Dead in Ghana Building Collapse

iStockphotos/Thinkstock(ACCRA, Ghana) -- Four were killed and dozens more may be trapped following the collapse of a department store in the capital of Ghana.

BBC News reports that more than 40 people were pulled from the rubble in Accra, Ghana, and that the search for survivors is ongoing.

The government has declared the area a disaster zone, according to the BBC. The nation’s president suspended his campaign tour, and tweeted, “My prayers are with the workers, shoppers and others who are trapped in the rubble of the collapsed Achimota Melcom building.”

The building was constructed earlier this year.
