Hundreds of Thousands of Protestors Gather in Kiev, Topple Lenin Statue

Photo by Brendan Hoffman/Getty Images(KIEV, Ukraine) -- After weeks of anti-government protests in Ukraine, demonstrators toppled a statue of Vladimir Lenin on Sunday.

In central Kiev, protestors are speaking out against Ukranian president Viktor Yanukovych's decision to reject a trade deal with the European Union. Rejecting the deal would mean closer ties between Ukraine and Russia.

The pro-EU protestors have given Yanukovych 48 hours to dismiss the government, the BBC reports, and have set up barricades outside the Prime Minister's office.

Hundreds of thousands of protestors remained in the streets of the capital on Sunday.
