(JERUSALEM) -- A 15-year-old Israeli boy was killed and two additional civilians were injured on Sunday when an Israeli vehicle exploded in an attack near the border with Syria.
According to the Israeli military, the vehicle that exploded was a civilian vehicle. They categorized the explosion as an intentional attack, to which the Israeli Defense Forces responded with tank rounds fired at Syrian positions.
It was not immediately clear whether the explosion was caused by mortar fire, an explosive device, or some other cause.
This would be the first time an Israeli has been killed by fire emanating from the Syrian civil war.
