(PRETORIA, South Africa) -- Former South African President Nelson Mandela's condition remains unchanged as he spends his eighth week at a hospital in Pretoria.
In a statement Tuesday, South African President Jacob Zuma's office said Mandela "still remains in a critical but stable condition." The presidency added that the civil rights leader "continues to show improvement."
Mandela, 95, was admitted to Mediclinic Heart Hospital on June 8 for a recurring lung infection.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner has been hospitalized four times since last December.
