(PRETORIA, South Africa) -- It looks like former South African President Nelson Mandela will spend his next birthday in the hospital.
No changes have been reported in the civil rights leader's condition since last week. Mandela turns 95 on Thursday.
According to the latest statement from South African President Jacob Zuma's office, issued on July 11, Mandela "continues to respond to treatment, and is still in a critical but stable condition."
Major celebrations are planned throughout South Africa to celebrate Mandela's birthday. Special video wishes have even been sent by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her daughter Chelsea.
A campaign known as Mandela Day is also calling on ordinary citizens to honor Mandela's legacy on July 18 by volunteering 67 minutes of their time to charity or service projects. Sixty-seven is the number of years the Nobel Peace Prize winner served his country through politics and while in prison.
