NTSB Sent to Mexico to Assist in Helicopter Crash Investigation
Stockbyte/Thinkstock(MEXICO CITY, Mexico) -- At the request of the Mexican Government, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) sent a team of investigators to assist in their investigation of Friday's crash of an Aerospatiale AS 332L Super Puma that killed five people.
The Eurocopter was enroute from Camp Marte, Mexico to Cuernavaca, Morelos, when it crashed in a rural area south of Mexico City around 8:45 a.m. local time.
All eight people on board were fatally injured, according to Mexican authorities.
The NTSB designated air safety investigator Lorenda Ward as the traveling U.S. Accredited Representative.
THE NTSB assigned NTSB Operational Factors and Airworthiness investigators and representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to accompany Ward.
The team arrived in Mexico City on Saturday.
