Obama, Raul Castro Shake Hands at Nelson Mandela Memorial

ABC News(JOHANNESBURG) -- President Obama shook hands with Cuban President Raul Castro on Tuesday at a memorial service for the late Nelson Mandela in South Africa.

Obama stopped to shake Castro's hand as he was walking to the podium to pay tribute to Mandela. The handshake comes amid a frosty relationship between the two countries that has existed for more than a half a century.

Castro and Obama were among the many world leaders that were on hand at a Soweto soccer stadium to honor Mandela, who died on Dec. 5 at the age of 95.
