UPDATE: Nine Americans, including eight International Security Assistance Force service members and one contractor, were killed in a shooting at an airport in Afghanistan Wednesday morning, according to officials.
(KABUL, Afghanistan) -- Six American troops were among nine people killed in a shooting at an airport in Afghanistan Wednesday morning, a defense official confirmed.
According to the Afghan Ministry of Defense, the incident occurred at 11 a.m. at Kabul International Airport after an argument involving an Afghan Air Force officer. The officer, who is a military pilot, opened fire, killing the foreign troops and wounding several others.
Eight International Security Assistance Force service members were killed in all, as was one ISAF civilian. The gunman was also killed in crossfire.
The identities of the six American service members, who were part of the NATO-led ISAF, have not yet been released.
