(MOSCOW) -- Russia says it will pursue an American couple convicted in the U.S. of the involuntary manslaughter of a 7-year-old adopted boy from Russia.
Michael and Nanette Craver were sentenced to the 19 months they'd already spent in prison for the 2009 death of their adopted son Nathaniel, formerly Ivan Skorobogatov . The Cravers have always insisted the boy suffered from fetal alcohol syndrome and had run head long into a stove, which was the last in a series of acts of self abuse.
Prosecutors argued the boy died from repeated blows to the head but offered no evidence as to who administered them.
Russian investigators say the murder was brutal and premeditated and will pursue an international arrest warrant.
