(PARIS) -- French prosecutors said Friday that they launched a murder inquiry into the death of a French journalist in Syria.
Gilles Jacquier, 43, was part of an entourage of journalists who travelled to the Syrian city of Homs on a government sanctioned trip on Wednesday. Jacquier died following grenade attacks on the group which also resulted in the death of several Syrians.
Jacquier worked for France Télévisions, which questioned why the military-escorted group were left exposed once the attack began.
