(WASHINGTON) – A week from the one-year anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti, Vice President Joe Biden has pledged the “lasting commitment” of the United States to help the Haitian people.
Biden met with Haitian-American leaders at the White House Thursday to discuss the work of the U.S. and international partners in Haiti over the past year.
Although Biden praised the efforts that have been made there, he stressed that continued challenges in recovery remain.
January 12 marks the one-year anniversary of the quake.
