Police Find Remains, Investigate Possible Link to Canadian Porn Actor

Montreal Police(MONTREAL) -- Canadian police have found what appears to be the remains of a human head in Montreal and are investigating whether it belongs to the missing Chinese student who they allege was dismembered by a Canadian porn actor, according to multiple reports.

Luka Magnotta is accused of murdering, mutilating and eating his lover, Jun Lin, and mailing the body parts to political parties and schools in Canada.  Lin’s head is the only missing body part unaccounted for.  He was last seen on May 24 and was reported missing to the Chinese consulate on May 29, according to the Montreal Police Department.

Investigators made their way to Park Angrignon on Sunday after receiving a tip, Montreal Police spokeswoman Anie Lemieux told ABC News.  The park is located a few miles from Magnotta’s apartment.

It will take a few days to confirm whether what police found is a human head.

Magnotta, 29, was arrested on June 4 in a Berlin Internet café, days after police believe he videotaped the murder of Lin, mutilated his body and mailed his hands and feet to government offices and schools.  A janitor discovered Lin’s torso behind Magnotta’s apartment building on May 29.  Magnotta was extradited back to Canada on June 18.

Magnotta, charged with first-degree murder, was for a time considered a priority fugitive by Interpol.  He did not fight extradition and quickly admitted his identity when confronted by police in Germany, telling them, “OK, you got me.”

Magnotta, who has appeared in adult films, has previously posted videos of his torturing animals.

Accused Canadian Cannibal Luka Magnotta Pleads Not Guilty

Montreal Police(MONTREAL) -- Luka Magnotta, a Canadian porn actor accused of killing, eating, and mailing the dismembered body parts of his lover to schools and government offices, has pleaded not guilty to five criminal counts, including first-degree murder.

Expressionless and flanked by guards, Magnotta, 29, appeared at the Montreal courthouse via closed-circuit video link for a hearing that lasted less than five minutes.

His lawyer, Pierre Panaccio, entered the plea on Magnotta's behalf and requested his client undergo psychiatric evaluation to determine his fitness for trial.

That motion will be decided Thursday when the court reconvenes.

Magnotta arrived in Montreal Tuesday following his extradition from Germany.

Magnotta was arrested on June 4 in a Berlin Internet café, days after police believe he videotaped the murder of Jun Lin, mutilated his body and mailed his hands and feet to government offices and schools. Lin's torso was discovered near the Montreal apartment where Magnotta lived. Lin's head, however, remains missing.

Charged with first-degree murder, Magnotta was for a time considered a priority fugitive by Interpol. He did not fight extradition and quickly admitted his identity when confronted by police in Germany, telling them, "OK, you got me."

Teacher Who Showed 'Cannibal' Murder Video Fired

Montreal Police(MONTREAL) -- A Canadian teacher has been fired for showing his high school students a grisly video that allegedly shows porn actor Luka Magnotta murdering and dismembering his Chinese lover.

The board of the Cavelier-De LaSalle high school in Montreal called the teacher's actions "as inappropriate as it is offensive."

The teacher, unnamed by the school, was suspended with pay on June 4, the same day the video was shown. He apologized to the school via email and was given the opportunity to tell the school board his side of the story on Wednesday.

"This decision follows an investigation by the CSMB [the school board], which took into account the seriousness of the action, the impact on the students involved, the human factor, as well as the standards provided for teachers' collective agreements," the board said in a statement on Thursday.

"The teacher's unacceptable behavior demanded action unequivocally," Diane Lamarche-Venne, president of the school board, said in a statement.

Magnotta, 29, allegedly stabbed Jun Lin to death, hacked up his body and mailed Lin's body parts to two Canadian government offices and Vancouver schools. Magnotta sparked an international manhunt when he fled Montreal and was captured in Berlin on June 4.

In addition to the killing and mutilation, the video also allegedly shows Magnotta taking a fork and knife to the body and performing lewd acts with the body parts, police said. Authorities have said that Magnotta posted the video online and by the time police got it removed, copies had already been made that can be found online.

The school also said that the past few days were "particularly stressful" for the teacher of 29 years and the students whose lives were disrupted by the events.

In the hours following the video's viewing, the school assembled a "crisis team of psychologists and psycho-educators" to be immediately available to the students. The team remained at the school for two days and a psychologist was present at the school for the rest of the week.

A spokeswoman from the Montreal Police Department told ABC News that it would be possible for the teacher to face legal consequences for showing the video, but no inquiries have been made yet or charges pressed.

Magnotta is currently in Berlin awaiting extradition to Canada. He is expected to be returned by the end of June.

Teacher Suspended for Showing 'Cannibal' Murder Video

Montreal Police Department(MONTREAL) -- A Canadian teacher has been suspended for showing high school students a video that police believe depicts accused killer porn actor Luka Magnotta murdering and dismembering his Chinese student lover.

Magnotta, 29, allegedly stabbed Lin to death, hacked up his body and mailed Jun Lin's body parts to two Canadian government offices and Vancouver schools.

Now, a Montreal teacher is under fire for showing the grisly video to his high school class.

The Cavelier-De LaSalle high school said in a statement that it "condemns with one voice the action of a teacher that showed his students a video with content as inappropriate as it offensive."

"The event was taken very seriously by the establishment and CSMB [the school board] who will promptly put in place all necessary measures," the statement said.

The teacher, unnamed by the school, was suspended with pay on June 4, the same day the video was shown.

In the hours following the video's viewing, the school assembled a "crisis team of psychologists and psycho-educators" to be immediately available to the students. The team remained at the school for two days and a psychologist was present at the school for the rest of the week.

The school was scheduled to meet with the teacher on Wednesday to hear his side of the story before deciding the fate of his job. No decision has been announced yet and the school didn't respond to request for comment from ABC News today.

Police: Body Parts Mailed to Vancouver Schools Are from Same Victim

Montreal Police(MONTREAL) -- Police in Canada have confirmed that the two body parts mailed to Vancouver schools last week also came from the Chinese student suspected to have been murdered by his lover Luka Magnotta, the Canadian porn actor who allegedly killed him, hacked up his body and mailed pieces around the country.

On Wednesday, Montreal police Commander Ian Lafreniere said that the body parts match those of Jun Lin, whose foot was mailed to the Ottawa headquarters of the Conservative Party of Canada on May 29.  Later that day, a package containing a human hand was seized at a post office in Ottawa.

The body parts sent to the Vancouver school were shipped to the Quebec coroner's forensics lab to undergo DNA tests, according to the Montreal Gazette.  A torso identified as that of Lin, a 33-year old Chinese immigrant and student at Concordia University in Montreal, was found stuffed in a suitcase and dumped in the trash in Montreal on May 29.  His head is still missing.

"All the body parts that were found -- the torso in Montreal, the foot and hand in Ottawa, the foot and hand in Vancouver -- are from the same body, that of Mr. Lin," Lafreniere said Wednesday evening.  "We've had official confirmation with the arrival of DNA test results, and we have also validated this though the presence of Mr. Lin's parents in Montreal."

Magnotta, 29, was arrested in Berlin on June 4 on murder charges.  He allegedly filmed himself stabbing Lin to death with an ice pick, chopped the corpse to pieces and mailed them to government offices.  He also allegedly also had sex with some of the body parts.

"The state of the body is so bad.  It was cut.  It was dismembered," Lafreniere said last week.  "This is a very hard case for us in terms of being extremely gross.  We're still missing body parts."

Magnotta, who has no prior criminal history that police are aware of, is currently in Germany awaiting extradition to Canada, where he will face first-degree murder charges.  Extradition is expected before the end of June.

More Body Parts in Mail; Cops Eye Canadian Porn Actor Link

Montreal Police(MONTREAL) -- Two Vancouver, British Columbia, schools have received packages in the mail containing body parts, and police said Tuesday they are investigating whether they are linked to the porn actor accused of hacking up his young lover and mailing pieces to Canadian government officials.

One of the schools received a foot and the other received a hand, officials told ABC News Tuesday, but they said it was too soon to say whether they were connected to the Luke Magnotta case.

Montreal Police confirmed to ABC News Tuesday that Magnotta also likely ate parts of his young lover's body and videotaped the gory feast.

In a mug shot taken moments after his arrest, a stone-faced Magnotta, who allegedly killed Chinese student Jun Lin, 33, stares steely-eyed into the camera, a stark contrast to the dozens of smiling images the rakish porn actor posted of himself online.

Nabbed by police at a Berlin Internet cafe Monday, Magnotta, 29, Tuesday was ordered held pending his extradition, and his mug shot was released.

The video also allegedly contains images of Magnotta stabbing a bound naked man with an ice pick, having sex with parts of the corpse, and putting fork and knife to his victim's body.

Magnotta is currently being held in a Berlin jail awaiting an extradition hearing. He could be returned to Canada as early as this week.

Magnotta was the subject of an Interpol "red notice," and on Sunday the international police organization posted three photos of a man passing through security at an unidentified airport. In the photos, a man who appeared to be Magnotta had been circled in red.

His alleged victim, Lin, was last seen on May 24 and was reported missing to the Chinese consulate on May 29, according to the Montreal Police Department.

On the same day, a human foot was found by a receptionist who received a blood-soaked package at the Ottawa headquarters of the Conservative Party of Canada. A second package containing a hand was seized at a post office in Ottawa later in the day.

A janitor in Montreal found a male torso in a suitcase behind a apartment building in the Cote-des-Neiges neighborhood. Magnotta was a resident of that building, and Montreal police said he was in a romantic relationship with Lin.

Accused Murderer Luka Rocco Magnotta Captured in Berlin

Montreal Police Department(MONTREAL) -- Canadian Luka Rocco Magnotta, who allegedly videotaped the murder of his lover and mailed his body parts, has been captured in a Berlin Internet cafe, according to the Berlin Police Department.

A man in an Internet cafe spotted Magnotta at about 2 p.m. in Germany and recognized him as the Canadian fugitive, Berlin Police spokesman Thomas Neuendors told ABC News.

"That man from this small restaurant went on the street and there was a police car there. He stopped the policeman and the policeman went into this small café and so they found the man in search," Neuendors said. "At first, he tried to tell several different names, but at last he said, 'Okay, you got me.'"

Authorities had an arrest warrant for Magnotta and he was taken to prison. He is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday, according to police.

Magnotta, 29, is wanted by Canadian authorities for first-degree murder and other charges.

He has been the focus of an international manhunt for the murder of his Chinese boyfriend who he allegedly killed on videotape before posting the video online and mailing parts of 33-year-old student Jun Lin's body to Canadian government offices.

Lin had been studying in Montreal since last July. He was last seen on May 24 and was reported missing to the Chinese consulate on May 29, according to the Montreal Police Department.

On the same day, a human foot was discovered by a receptionist who received a blood-soaked package at the Ottawa headquarters of the Conservative Party of Canada. A second package containing a hand was seized at a post office in Ottawa later in the day.

Meanwhile, a janitor in Montreal found a male torso in a suitcase behind a apartment building in the Cote-des-Neiges neighborhood. Magnotta was a resident of that building and Montreal police said that he was in a romantic relationship with Lin.

"We know that the suspect and the victim knew each other. It was not a random attack," Lafreniere said. "[Magnotta] knew the victim. They were having an affair."

Magnotta has no prior criminal history that police are aware of. Authorities have confirmed that the mailed body parts did indeed belong to the torso that was found and that the body parts mailed to Ottawa originated in Montreal.

Police Identify Murder Victim of Suspected Canadian Porn Star

ABC News(MONTREAL) -- Authorities have identified the victim of a brutal videotaped murder that was discovered after the victim's body parts were mailed to Canadian government offices by a suspected porn star, who is now the focus of an international manhunt.

The victim was Chinese student Jun Lin, 33, who has been studying in Montreal since last July.

Meanwhile, a janitor in Montreal found a male torso in a suitcase behind an apartment building in the Cote-des-Neiges neighborhood. Suspect Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29, was a resident of that building and Montreal police say he had a romantic relationship with Lin.

"We know that the suspect and the victim knew each other. It was not a random attack," Lafreniere said. "[Magnotta] knew the victim. They were having an affair."

Magnotta, 29, has been added to Interpol's wanted list, and Canadian authorities believe he may have left the country.

"We got the reasons to believe that the suspect went out of the country and that's the reason why we asked that our warrant will be sent out to Interpol," Montreal Police Commander Ian Lafreniere told ABC News. "So now we got help of different agencies around the world, actually, because he might be out of the country and he might be out of North America, so that's why we need help of Interpol."

Police are not aware of Lin's criminal history, if any. Authorities have confirmed that the mailed body parts did indeed belong to the torso that was found and that the body parts mailed to Ottawa originated in Montreal.

"The state of the body is so bad. It was cut. It was dismembered," Lafreniere said. "This is a very hard case for us in terms of being extremely gross. We're still missing body parts."

Lafreniere said police do not currently believe that any of the missing body parts are in the mail, but said they are working with the postal service while they investigate.

Magnotta has a heavy online presence, with a personal website filled with photos of himself and rambling essays titled "Cyber Stalking" and "Media Propaganda."

Lafreniere said the abundance of photos online may actually help investigators.

"This guy was posting a lot of pictures and people are sharing those pictures now all around the world and you have a lot of people looking for him," he said.

Lafreniere also said that "a video showing the complete murder" of Magnotta's lover was posted online.

"We have no reason to doubt that that could be the killing," Lafreniere said, when asked about the video's authenticity.

Authorities have removed the original video, but Lafreniere said copies are still circulating on the Internet. He called the video and the crime "completely crazy and inhuman" and was baffled that people would continue to circulate the video.

There are also videos online that appear to show Magnotta killing cats and appearing in pornographic films.

"We believe [Magnotta is] the same person seen on the web doing some porn movies and giving a hard time to some animals," Lafreniere said.

Magnotta also goes by the pseudonyms Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov, according to the Montreal Police Department. He is white with black hair and blue eyes. He is 5 feet 10 inches and weighs about 135 pounds.
