(PERUGIA, Italy) -- A new movie about the Amanda Knox murder case has upset the Knox family, while the parents of Meredith Kercher, the British roommate Knox was convicted of murdering, found the preview "distressing."
A trailer for the movie Amanda Knox: Murder On Trial In Italy was posted on the Internet. The film will air on the Lifetime channel Feb. 21.
The trailer indicates there are graphic scenes in the movie. One quick segment shows Kercher stripped down to her bra, pinned to the floor and screaming as she is groped by Raffaele Sollecito and Rudy Guede, two men convicted along with Knox in the killing.
Kercher's father, John Kercher, told Britain's Sun Kercher's mother, Arline, can't bear to watch the preview and he found it upsetting.
The trailer shows Knox, a 20-year-old student from Seattle at the time, portrayed by actress Hayden Panettiere, and the preview shows the Knox and Sollecito characters in a steamy bed scene. At one point the Italian prosecutor states ominously, "Under the angel face, she is capable of anything."
Knox and Sollecito, sentenced to 26 years in prison, are appealing their convictions. Guede's appeal has already been rejected, and he was sentenced to 14 years.
