Anti-Corruption Advocate Hazare Ends Hunger Strike

SAJJAD HUSSAIN/AFP/Getty Images(NEW DELHI) -- Anti-corruption advocate Anna Hazare ended his 13-day hunger strike on Sunday following the Indian parliament’s decision to create an anti-corruption department.

Hazare has been tirelessly pushing for a new anti-corruption agency, or ombudsman.

Many Indian citizens praise the septuagenarian for taking action against widespread corruption in the often chaotic Indian governmental system, although critics point out that Hazare perhaps wrongfully bypassed conventional legislative techniques.

Hazare broke his fast by drinking a glass of coconut water.
