Suicide Bombing at Afghan Police Station Kills at Least 12

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(KABUL, Afghanistan) -- A suicide attack in southern Afghanistan killed at least 12 people on Friday and wounded at least five others.

A spokesman for the governor of the Uruzgan province said that the attacker detonated his vest inside the crowded main dining hall for an elite police force. Police and civilians were among those killed in the explosion.

Mohammad Khpalwak, a senior Afghan intelligence officer said that the attacker wore a police uniform and managed to get inside the cafeteria where senior officers, relatives and friends were eating. It is unclear whether the bomber was a member of the police force.

Khpalwak added that the bombing was a breach of security that would be investigated.

In a separate incident, two children were killed by a roadside bombing in the district of Chora. The two children were between the ages of 10 and 11.

Iraq: Wheelchair Suicide Bomber Kills Two

Antenna Audio, Inc./Getty Images(BAGHDAD) -- At least two people were killed and several others injured when a suicide bomber in a wheelchair detonated himself in Tarmiyah, Iraq on Sunday.

The suicide attack reportedly occurred at a police station in the town, which is located to the north of Baghdad. Authorities say a man in a wheelchair, wearing an explosive belt, detonated the device in the entrance of the police station, killing two police officers and injuring 17 others, most of whom were also police.

At Least Four Killed After Attack on Pakistani Police Station

Photo Courtesy - John Moore/Getty Images(SWABI, Pakistan) -- Two police men were killed Monday after four militants tried to break into a police station in northern Pakistan.

According to the police chief of Swabi, one militant blew himself up while trying to get through the station's guarded gate, killing two police officers in the suicide attack.  Another militant was shot and the two others remaining escaped the scene.

There are also reports of injuries from the suicide bomb, but it is unclear how many people were wounded.

Swabi's police chief says a search is ongoing for the two militants who fled.´╗┐
