(MULTAN, Pakistan) -- Pakistani police have arrested seven militants who planned to kill the country's prime minister and foreign minister. The militants were arrested Wednesday in a house near Multan, Pakistan.
Intelligence officials learned of their plot to kill Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi after they were taken in for questioning. ABC News has also learned that the militants were planning to blow up Taunsa Barrage, a wetland on the Indus River, and a major bridge connecting Southern Punjab and Sindh province.
Both Prime Minister Gilani and Foreign Minister Qureshi belong to Multan, and make frequent visits to meet with their constituents.
