(ISLAMABAD) -- The governor of Pakistan's Punjab province was fatally shot by one of his security guards Tuesday in Islamabad.
Gov. Salman Taseer, a member of the Pakistan People's Party, was shot as he was getting into his car in Kohsar Market, a place popular with expatriates. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi confirmed the news, condemning Taseer's murder.
The guard who allegedly shot Taseer was arrested, according to officials.
