(NEW DELHI, India) -- Indian Hindu spiritual guru Sathya Sai Baba died Sunday at the age of 84.
Sai Baba died at a hospital located in the southern part of India, after being hospitalized since March 28 for dialysis treatment and ventilator support, according to published reports. The spiritual guru developed a huge global following in his lifetime, with many of his supporters believing that he was a human incarnation of God. Sai Baba claimed to have performed numerous miracles, however, some critics have accused him of fraudulent activities.
"The passing away of Sri Satya Saibaba is an irreparable loss to all and the nation deeply mourns his passing away," India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in a statement. "I express my sincere condolences to the millions of his followers, disciples and well wishers."
