Rome May Ban 'Living Statues'

Hemera/Thinkstock(ROME) -- They're a fixture in every tourist trap in virtually every city in the world, but Rome has had it with people who make money pretending to be statues.

Federico Mollicone, deputy culture chief in Italy's capital city said "Living statues demonstrate no artistic activity, to the extent that they can't be compared to mimes, and they amount to a veritable racket," according to AFP.

Aside from banning living statues, another regulation from Mollicone that will go before a vote soon seeks to quiet street performers after 10 p.m.
