(DALBANDIN, Pakistan) – The USGS reported a 7.2 magnitude earthquake Tuesday in the southwestern region of Pakistan, about 30 miles west of Dalbandin.
The quake registered 52 miles below the Earth’s surface, which suggests that less shaking would have been felt compared to a shallower quake.
Tweets from Pakistanis suggest that few people in Islamabad or Lahore felt the quake, although some as far as Delhi and Dubai say they felt it.
Some damage has been reported in the small mountainous villages around Dalbandin and Kharan, although the extent of the damage may not be known for some time as the region is remote and sparsely populated.
