(LAUSANNE, Switzerland) -- Olympic officials have given four new winter events the thumbs-up. With ski jumping rejected for inclusion in Vancouver, womens' ski jumping has been approved by the 'International Olympic Committee' for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
Jumping in heavy fog and strong winds last month at the nordic World Championships in Norway helped convince the board that it was time to add the sport. Also coming on board in Russia in three years, the IOC has approved the ski halfpipe along with new luge and figure skating team events.
