(MOSCOW) -- The only member of a Russian hockey team to survive a fiery plane crash has died from his injuries. Despite surviving nearly a week of intensive treatment, 26-year-old Alexander Galimov finally succumbed to the severe burns that covered about 90 percent of his body.
Forty-three others, including all of Galimov's Locomotiv Yaroslavl hockey teammates, died.
Unlike the other players who were citizens of other countries and once played in the NHL, Galimov was a native of the city.
The only other person to have survived, a member of the flight crew, is being treated in a Moscow hospital.
