Toronto Police Shut Down Massive House Party

iStock/Thinkstock(TORONTO) -- Police broke up a raging house party Friday night in the Toronto suburb of Brampton after nearly 1,500 kids responded to a social media post advertising the event.

The "mansion party" was held at a home still under construction, with the owner's son apparently gaining permission from his mother.

"Everything's completely trashed," one attendee said. "I mean the house wasn't built to begin with. A lot of broken windows, stair railings are broken."

A Facebook message was sent out as an invite, according to one area resident, and the hashtag "#MansionParty" gained traction on Twitter.

An estimated $70,000 in damage was done, the Toronto Sun reports. Additional police units were required to shut the party down and safely disperse the crowd. Numerous people were arrested for intoxication and assaulting officers.
