A holiday season already marred by violence just got worse.  Several firefighters in New York were shot, two dead, while responding to a fire in upstate New York in an apparent ambush.  Meanwhile, residents in Newtown, Connecticut have been the recipients of holiday kindness from volunteers across the country.  Shopping malls are filled this Christmas Eve with some 17 million holiday procrastinators but the best deals are still to come.  And the US Post Office continues its century-old tradition of matching letters to Santa from children in need to generous donors.  This and more in the World News Podcast.
